Walnut Headboard

A queen size headboard constructed of walnut strips cut from an 8' x 14" x 2" piece of aged walnut. Strips were glued edge to edge to make 24 isosceles triangles. These were glued base to base to make twelve 7" squares. These were glued up with the diagonals pointed to the center making three large 14" squares having a pinwheel effect. Each square was framed with 2" boarders and rabbited into the larger, overall frame of the headboard and legs. The outer frame and legs were made from the same aged walnut source. My Ryobi belt sander was used for both the rough and finish sanding at each stage. The finished project was oiled with boild linseed oil.
